FIRST OF ALL WAT IS AN IP ADDRESS ?


IP ADDRESS ARE UNIQUE NUMBERS SEPERATED WITH DOTS(.) , ITS USED TO IDENTIFY EACH COMPUTER SEPERATELY CONNECTED TO A NETWORK.
THERE ARE 2 IP PROTOCOL VERSIONS

IPV4
IPV6

THERE ARE 5 CLASSES OF IP ADDRESSES AS FOLLOWS :

CLASS A
CLASS B
CLASS C
CLASS D
CLASS E

CLASS A IP'S STARTS WITH ==>>1.0.0.0 TO 126.255.255.255 AND ITS SUBNET MASK IS 255.0.0.0
 IT CAN HAVE 127 NETWORKS WHICH CAN HAVE 16 MILLION HOSTS PER NETWORK

CLASS B IP'S STARTS WITH ==>> 128.0.0.0 TO 191.255.255.255 AND ITS SUBNET MASK IS
255.255.0.0

COMPARED TO A CLASS IT CAN HAVE 16000 NETWORKS BUT HOSTS PER NETWORK IS LIMITED TO 65000

CLASS C IP'S START WITH ==>> 192.0.0.0 TO 223.255.255.0 AND ITS SUBNET MASK IS 255.255.255.0 COMPARED TO OTHER CLASSES IT CAN HAVE 2 MILLION NETWORKS BUT HOSTS PER NETWORK IS LIMITED TO 254 (NOTE THAT THIS IS THE IP COMMONLY USED)

CLASS D IP'S STARTS WITH ==>> 224.0.0.0 TO 239.255.255.255 AND THIS IP IS RESERVED FOR MULICASTS

CLASS E IP'S STARTS WITH ==>> 240.0.0.0 TO 254.255.255.254 AND THIS IP IS ALSO RESERVED FOR FUTURE USE, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT 


NOW WE'LL START LEARN HOW TO CHANGE IP ADDRESS IN WINDOWS OS 

 WINDOWS XP 

1) GOTO CONTROL PANEL

 start menu

2) SELECT NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS OPTIONS

 3) SELECT NETWORK CONNECTIONS FROM IT

4) SELECT LOCAL AREA NETWORK AND RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND SELECT PROPERTIES

 LAN Status

5) IN THE APPEARING BOX SELECT PROPERTIES

 LAN Status

5) ANOTHER BOX WILL APPEAR SHOWING

5) NOW U LOOK FOR INTERNET PROTOCOL TCP/IPAND SELECT IT

6) AFTER SELECTING IT CLICK PROPERTIES FROM BELOW IT 

TCP/IP configuration

 7) NOW SELECT THE "USE THE FOLLOWING IP ADDRESS" OPTION AND CHANGE LIKE U DESIRED WITH ANY CLASS IP'S

 

CHANGING IP ON WINDOWS 7/8 

1) GOTO CONTROL PANEL OR TYPE IN START MENU NETWORK AND SHARING

2) SELECT IT AND LOOK FOR THE TOP LEFT SIDE OPTION

3) CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS, CLICK IT

4) NOW SELECT LOCAL AREA CONNECTION AND CLICK PROPERTIES

5) AFTER THAT SELECT INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 TCP/IPV4
